Wine Holidays

Traditionally, our associate company Langdale Holidays, has concentrated on providing holiday travel based on walking.

Following our involvement in Tuscany, dating back to the early 1990's, both in self catering holidays and wine importing, we thought it would be good to bring the various elements together into a new holiday experience.

In 2002 we did just that and offered two summer holidays based at one of the estates, Badia di Morrona, where we already offered self catering, and also handled the import of the wine to the UK. There's something about staying on a wine producing estate which everyone thoroughly enjoys! In subsequent years we have added a hotel style holiday at another of our wine producers' organic farm, La Spinosa, for a more relaxed kind of holiday where all planned activity is entirely optional.

Our 'Tuscan Retreat' at La Spinosa has proved to be very popular in the way we have encouraged our guests to kind of 'shut down'. The venue in the 'Valley of Silence' makes this very easy. The walking is equally easy for those who want it, but the organic food and the wine are quite exceptional. Each holiday we have done here has seen off substantial quantities of both. Guests have found the winery tours interesting and the long wine tasting lunches a joy. We also arrange visits for wine tastings at other venues.

The 'Walking and Exploring' holiday, based once again at Badia di Morrona, introduces some new aspects to experiencing the pleasures of Tuscany. A little less walking perhaps and some visits to different places. However, still integral to our 'Tuscan adventure' are the winery and wine tasting visits together with the opportunities for evenings out at nearby restaurants where, again we have made our mark with our appreciation of the local wines!

No. 1 CHILL IN TUSCANY
"Combine some serious quaffing with gentle walks in the hills of Chianti. Langdale Holidays has booked all nine rooms at La Spinosa, a charming hotel on an organic farm near the tiny village of Barberino Val d'Elsa. Among the treats it promises are guided tours of San Gimignano and Monteriggioni, walks in the surrounding valley among wild flowers and butterflies, and three wine-tasting sessions, one at the hotel and two with local producers. That still leaves plenty of time to lounge beside the pool, book a relaxing massage or explore the walking trails that crisscross the estate..."
